What time should I arrive at my assigned location?
The event will start at 10:00 am. If you signed up for “on the water” or “wading in a creek”, we suggest you arrive a few minutes early to meet your team lead and team members. If you signed up for “walking on shore”, you can arrive anytime within the 10 :00 am – 2:00 pm window and stay as long as you like.
Where should I park?
Stay tuned! Parking instructions for your entry point will be included in a pre-event email from your Team Lead.
What should I wear and what do I need to bring?
- Closed toe shoes are required. Please check the weather forecast and dress for comfort outdoors. You may want to wear layers so you can remove outer layers as it gets warmer throughout the day. Long or protective sleeves are recommended.
- Please bring your own refillable water bottle, water stations will be available at each entry point. Paper cups will also be available.
- Gloves, trash pickers and garbage bags will be available at your entry point. You are also welcome to bring your own work gloves.
- If you signed up for “on the water”, please bring your own vessel and Coast Guard approved personal flotation device.
Is this event kid friendly?
Yes, absolutely! For younger children, the “walking on shore” choice is the most child friendly.
Will food and water be provided?
Snacks and water will be available throughout the event at each entry point. A free picnic-style meal will be provided during the celebration at Mayors Riverfront Park following the event.
Will restrooms be available?
Yes, restrooms will be available at each cleanup site entry point.
Where can I find details about the Afterparty?
The Afterparty will be at Mayors Riverfront Park following the event from 2-5 pm. A free picnic lunch will be provided along with musical entertainment from the Hoot Owls and games for kids and adults.
If I don’t stay for the whole four-hour cleanup can I still come to the Afterparty?
You do not have to stay from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Whether you are able to come early and leave early or come later and stay till the Afterparty celebration you are welcome! Please indicate you will attend the celebration when you register for the event.
Is the Kalamazoo River Cleanup project an annual event?
Yes, this year is the second annual event.
When will I get more detailed information?
You will receive an email from your Team Lead with all the details prior to the event date at the email address you summitted with your registration.
